நவராத்திரியில் முதல் மூன்று நாளும் இச்சா சக்தியின் தோற்றமான துர்க்கையின் ஆட்சிக் காலம். இதில் இறைவன் உலகத்தை வாழ்விக்க விரும்புகின்றான்.
நடுவில் உள்ள மூன்று நாட்களும் ஞானசக்தியின் தோற்றமான இலக்குமியின் ஆட்சிக்காலம். இதில் இறைவன் ஆன்மாக்களுக்கு தனு, கரண, புவன போகங்களைக் கொடுக்கும் முறையை அறிகின்றான்
இறுதி மூன்று நாட்களும் கிரியா சக்தியின் தோற்றமான சரஸ்வதியின் ஆட்சிக்காலம். இதில் இறைவன் முன் அறிந்தவாறு அருள் வழங்குகின்றான் என்பது சிவாகமத்தின் உள்ளுறையாகும்.

The Goddess Durga is worshipped for the first three days of Navratri, followed by Goddess Lakshmi for the next three days and ending with Goddess Saraswati on the final three days of Navratri.
Navrathri is celebrated for nine days during the Tamil month Purattasi (September-October). It is a celebration of the victory of Goddess Durga or Parashakthi over the demon king Mahishasura. On the tenth day Vijaya Dhasami, the day of victory is observed with all religious fervor. Symbolically it is said to be the victory of good over evil.
Vijaya Dashami or Dasara or Dussehra marks the end of the Navarathri festival. This day is considered auspicious and holds significance for those embarking on a new business, education or venture. It marks the day when Rama won the battle with Ravana. This day marks the Triumph of Good over Evil.
