Each Saturday in the month of Purattasi is an auspicious time to worship and receive the blessings of Saniswara, or Lord Saturn. As black sesame seeds are an appropriate offering for Saniswara, those visiting the Temple can light a lamp (sutti) with a packet of black sesame seeds (potalam) .
This is considered an auspicious form of worship as it reduces the more difficult influences of Saniswara in our lives.
