Ther Thiruvila, also known as the Chariot Festival, is a significant and grand celebration held annually. The festivities commence with a series of rituals performed by the temple priests. These include the abhishekam of the Sivalingam and Ambal, followed by elaborate pujas and the chanting of Vedic hymns. The atmosphere is filled with the sound of traditional instruments like the nadaswaram and thavil, adding to the spiritual fervor. The idol of Sivan and Ambal are decorated with flowers and after the Pooja in Vasantha Mandapam, Sivan and Ambal are lifted and carried by devotees to come around the inner court of Temple. Then Sivan & Ambal are taken to Chariot and seated. The highlight of the Ther Thiruvila is the procession of the chariot. Devotees gather in large numbers to pull the massive chariot, which is considered an act of great merit. Men, women, and children, all dressed in their finest traditional attire, participate with enthusiasm, singing hymns and chanting the names of God Siva. The outer court of Temple resonate with devotion as the chariot makes its way slowly, stopping at designated points where special rituals are performed. Once the Ther procession come to stop at the starting point Devotees Archai Poojas are held. Then Sivan & Ambal are dressed in Green Color clothes and garlands to cool them and taken down to Vasantha Mandapam.
