
Veatai means Hunting in English. God Sivan on this festival day goes for hunting. After coming in procession through the inner court He comes out to the Outer court. He is seated on Nanthi Vaakanam (Vehicle) and the devotees carry Him on their shoulders. He comes around the outer court and start the hunting. He hunts and kill the feelings of Arrogance, Anger, Jealousy, Hate, and all other negative feelings among devotees’ minds. The hunting is simulated by priest cutting vegetables hung on ropes tied in square covering all for directions. Children dressed like animals and hunter/s add more colors to the festival At the end of hunting devotees feel more peaceful and enjoy the feeling of love towards everybody gathered for the festival.
