One of Lord Siva’s manifestations is known as ‘Bhairavar,’ and in this form, he is regarded as the patron deity of Kasi. In Tamil tradition, Bhairavar is seen as the protector of the village or temple, and it is customary to leave the temple keys at his feet each night after the temple is closed.
